Ruby on the Road in the USA
And she. Is. Done! Let’s hit the road and start this crazy adventure. As I mentioned in my “Ruby introduction” post, there were a few main things I wanted to have added, and other than that I wasn’t going to go too crazy. A desk for me to work at, enough storage space for my entire life to be squeezed into van, and of a course a few places for plants because I can’t leave all my babies home!
After a couple weeks of work and much assistance from my dad (Thank youu!), everything is in place and I couldn’t be happier. Here is what she looks like now, new and much improved.
Don’t you just love it? When my friends saw her for the first time after all the work was done, they described her as “boujee,” which according to the Urban Dictionary is used to describe “people, things, and places that are definitively high-class.” And obviously that is me, so I accept. *wink wink*
Let’s break it down so you can picture how I have everything organized. The stack of drawers/bins to the right of the chair house pots/pans, dishes, silverware and dry foods. Then the cooler in between the two front seats obviously is for ice and all my cold foods. You can just see the end of it in the second picture, but behind the driver’s seat is where I have my stove folded up and stored. The organizer on the back of the passenger side chair holds everyday use things like my sunglasses, masks, hotspot, chargers and earphones. The front of the passenger seat houses my mini washing machine, dish bin, and, not in the picture now, but I have a large 5 gallon jug that sits on the seat as well. Above and below the bed is my clothing storage. I also keep my tent, hammock, camp chair under the bed.
Anything else is stored on the window sills. It’s hard to tell because the pillows are in the way, but I brought some books (and by some I mean like 15) with me and they are stacked up back there. And I almost forgot, but there are also little storage spaces all around the top of the van for some little things. You can see one above the desk that looks like a little door.
But that’s pretty much it! What do you think? Have any questions about how I’m handling certain things? Ask away! I’d love to answer any questions. If people were interested, I would love to do a tour on my instagram stories.
